Donate your Unwanted Bicycle

Good bikes that would normally go to waste can be donated to the Re-Cycle workshop in Swansea.  Re-Cycle was set up as a social enterprise in 2006 to reduce the widespread waste of bikes by restoring the reliable and affordable bikes for sale with about 20% of the bikes going, with maintenance training, to volunteers.

We accept donated bicycles in fair to good condition- if we can’t fix it we strip it for spares. We also welcome any spare parts or accessories.

Most refurbished bikes for sale are mountain bikes, some road and hybrid, and there is a steady flow of retro bikes. Supermarket bikes are stripped for spares as they are unsafe and generally fail to last for our guarantee period.

All bikes are serviced and refurbished by fully trained cycle mechanics working alongside volunteers – and all come with a three-month guarantee. Re-cycle also services and repairs  bikes.

Most people donate bikes because they dislike waste and prefer not to throw their bikes away. The recycling depots in Swansea are still taking in thousands of bikes every year but the project has so far been refused access to any of them.

Re-Cycle receives no charity or grant funding and relies entirely on bike donors and volunteers for support. Thanks to this support, and the rise in profile of cycling, Re-Cycle continues to grow during these difficult times.

Prices range from £30 for children’s bikes; from £50 for adults, all with 3 month guarantee. The prices are generally at least 20% lower than the market rate, and people often donate unused or top quality bikes. We also have a stock of refurbished parts.

Rhoddwch eich beic ddiangen

Y mae’n bosib rhoddi beiciau y fydd yn arfer mynd i’w gwastraffu i’r gweithdy Ail-Seiclo yn Abertawe. Gosodwyd Ail-Seiclo fel menter cymdeithasol yn 2006 er mwyn lleihau’r gwastarff eang o feicicau trwy adfer y beiciau dibynadwy a fforddiadwy i’w gwerthu gyda thua 20% o’r beiciau yn mynd gydag hyfforddiant cynnal a chadw i’r gwirfoddolwyr. Derbynwn feiciau mewn cyflwr teg i dda – os na allwn eu trwsio, ymddiosgwn ar gyfer darnau sbâr. Hefyd, rydyn ni’n croesawu unrhyw rannau neu ategolion sbâr.
Mae rhan fwyaf y beiciau wedi eu hadnewyddu yn feiciau mynydd, rhai ffyrdd a hybrid, ac mae llif cyson o feiciau retro. Mae beiciau o’r archfarchnadoedd yn cael eu hymddiosg gan eu bod yn anniogel ac yn gyffredinol, maen nhw’n methu para am ein cyfnod gwarant.
Adnewyddir a gwasanaethir pob beic gan fecaneg â hyfforddiant llawn sy’n gweithio ochr yn ochr â gwirfoddolwr – ac maen nhw’n dod gyda gwarant o dri mis. Mae Ail-Seiclo hefyd yn gwasanaethu a thrwsio beiciau.
Mae’r rhan fwyaf o bobl yn rhoi beiciau oherwydd nad ydydnt yn hoffi gwastraff ac mae’n well ganddynt beidio â thaflu eu beiciau i ffwrdd. Mae’r canolfannau ail-gylchu yn Abertawe dal yn cymryd miloedd o feiciau bob blwyddyn ond hyd at hyn ni chaniateir y prosiect ddyfodiad iddynt.
Ni dderbynir Ail-Seiclo arian elusen neu cyllid grant ac mae’n dibynnu’n llwyr ar roddion beic a gwirfoddolwyr am gefnogaeth. Wrth ddiolch i’r cefnogaeth hwn, a chodiad ym mroffil seiclo mae Ail-Seiclo yn parhau tyfu ymysg yr amserau anodd hyn.
Mae prisiau yn ymestyn o £30 am feiciau i blant, o £50 i oedolion, pob un gyda gwarant tri mis. Yn gyffredinol mae’r prisiau o leiaf 20% yn llai na chyfradd y farchnad ac yn aml mae pobl yn rhoi beiciua newydd neu beiciau o ansawdd uchel iawn. Hefyd, mae gennym stoc o rannau adnewydd.

volunteering at re-cycle / gwirfoddoli yn ail-seiclo

volunteers

volunteers with their bikes /  gwirfoddolwyr gyda’u beiciau

Hundreds of cyclists in Swansea are riding bikes they have earned in exchange for their time as a volunteer at re-cycle.

Volunteers help receive, prepare and test bikes with the support of the regular volunteer crew.

Limited spaces are available for people to volunteer for two days in exchange for a bike. We are also looking for regular volunteers who get trained up to support the project..

All volunteers gain experience in bike maintenance, repair and riding, some go on to gain vocational qualifications in maintenance with Agored/OCN.

We are always open to volunteer bookings, there may be a waiting time – pop in to the workshop or phone to book your place. Volunteer slots run from 11am to 5pm, thursdays and fridays.

Mae cannoedd o feicwyr yn Abertawe yn reidio beiciau maen nhw wedi ennill trwy gyfnewid am eu hamser fel gwirfoddolwr yn Ail-Seiclo. Mae gwirfoddolwyr yn helpu derbyn, paratoi a phrofi beiciau gyda chefnogaeth y criw arferol o wirfoddolwyr.

Mae lleoedd cyfyngedig ar gael i bobl i wirfoddoli am ddau ddydd yr wythnos mewn cyfnewid am feic. Hefyd edrychwn am wirfoddolwyr rheolaidd sy’n cael hyfforddiant er mwyn cefnogi’r prosiect.

Mae pob gwirfoddolwr yn ennill profiad mewn gofalaeth, trwsio a reidio beic ac mae rhai yn mynd ymlaen i ennill cymhwysterau galwadigaethol yng ngofalaeth gydag Agored / OCN.

Rydyn ni’n wastad ar agor i archebion gwirfoddolwyr. Efallai bydd amser aros – dewch mewn i’r gweithdy neu ffoniwch i fwcio’ch lle. Mae lleoedd gwirfoddoli yn rhedeg o 11 y bore tan 5 yr hwyr dydd Iau a dydd Gwener.

Re-Cycle Swansea – putting bikes back on the road / Ail-Seiclo Abertawe – yn rhoi beiciau yn ôl ar yr heol.

20150108_164024-1

The Re Cycle project at Swansea takes in donated bicycles and puts them back on the road.

Trained mechanics refurbish & service bikes to a high standard – all bikes are sold with a three month guarantee.

The renovated bikes are available from the showroom in Brynmill  – see map. The workshop also provides bike servicing and repairs.

Re-Cycle Swansea is a social enterprise run by Re-Cycle South Wales; a not-for-profit community interest company (No. 0784655).

Re Cycle is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 10am and 5pm.

Mae’r prosiect Ail-Seiclo yn cymryc beiciau diangen a’u rhoi yn ôl ar yr heol.
Adnewyddir a gwasanaethir y beiciau i safon uchel gan fecaneg sydd â hyfforddiant – gwerthir pob beic gda gwaarnt tri mis.
Mae’r beiciau adnewydd ar gael o’r ystafell arddangos ym Mrynmill – gwelwch fap. Mae’r gweithdy hefyd yndarparu trwsio a gwasanaeth beic.

Mae Ail-Seiclo Abertawe yn fenter cymdeithasol a rhedir gan Ail-Seiclo, De Cymru, cwmni buddiannau cymunedol nid-er-elw.

Mae Ail-Seiclo ar agor ddydd Iau, dydd Gwener a dydd Sadwrn rhwng 10 y bore a 5 yr hwyr.

Studies show that 1.2 million bicycles are thrown away in the UK every year. Most people are happy to donate their bike to the project rather than see it melted down as scrap.

Over 3000 bikes have been put back on the road by Re Cycle projects in Swansea and Newport since 2007 – (that’s equivalent to 130 tonnes that would be scrap metal by now). We rescue about 80% of donated bikes, the rest are used for spares.

Dangosir astudiaethau bod 1.2 miliwn o feiciau yn cael eu taflu i ffwrdd yn Y Deyrnas Unedig bob blwyddyn. Bydd y rhan fwyaf o bobl yn hapusach yn rhoi eu beiciau i’r prosiect yn hytrach na’u gweld nhw wedi toddi i sgrap.

Mae dros dair mil o feiciau wedi rhoi yn ôl ar yr heol gan brosiectau Ail-Seiclo yn Abertawe a Chasnewydd ers 2007 (sy’n gyfartal a 130 o dunnell y fyddai’n fetal sgrap erbyn nawr.) Rydyn ni’n achub 80% o’r beiciau a rhoddwyd, defnyddir y gweddill am rannau sbâr.
